About the role

Job title:       Accounts Manager and Bookkeeper
Function:      Accounts preparation, bookkeeping and processing payroll for a diverse range of clients
Location: Lanwades Business Park, Kentford, Newmarket
Hours:      22.5 hours a week
Salary:     £16,965 pa  part-time (£28,275 pa full time equivalent)

She started it after having completed her maternity leave, following more than 14 years with a medium-sized accountancy practice where she started as a trainee and ultimately was promoted to partner. Job Brief:

We are looking for a confident person with excellent organisational skills who will be working independently and as part of a small team to look after clients both at our office and at local client’s premises to draft accounts (for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies), carry out bookkeeping and process payroll and VAT returns. The ideal candidate for this position is a skilled, reliable, accurate multi-tasker who enjoys working with people and who is good at working to deadlines. They are willing to learn and will develop with the current team as the company continues to grow.


Drafting accounts and tax returns for a wide variety of clients (sole traders, partnerships and limited companies) from computerised and manual records.

Bookkeeping for clients, using various software packages to prepare and file VAT returns and prepare management accounts. This includes making the necessary journals for depreciation, payroll, prepayments and accruals.

Processing and submitting regular payroll reports for clients.

Provide regular updates on work undertaken or completed and, where necessary, identify any issues arising and where further work may need to be undertaken.

Carry out any other duties as required.


You will need to be AAT level 4 qualified and either also have AAT levels 2 and 3 or some practical experience in bookkeeping and accounts preparation.

Minimum GCSE English and Maths grades C

A working knowledge of Excel and Word

It would be useful if you had some knowledge of Quickbooks, Xero and Sage
